Ethan Turns One!

We have been very fortunate to have one of Gary's collegues move from Delaware to Arizona and by chance, bought a home across the street from us. They have a son, Ethan, who's only a few month's older than Nick and they have become great friends! Nick was invited to Ethan's 1st birthday party. Actually, the birthday party was a milestone for Ethan and Nick. Ethan's milestone is obvious, but baby nick cut his one of his top front teeth.

Nick's first experience with a birthday was marked by a little bit of whining and grimacing. Hopefully this won't be the shape of his future birthday party's to come.
Thanks Lindi and Ryan for a wonderful time.

Patience is a Virtue

Yesterday, I decided to get Nick a new toy to help him start pulling himself up and standing on his own. - key word being himself. Well, by helping him overcome one challenge I created another: FRUSTRATION!!! I realize this can be normal behavior, but my son, who is the spit'ten image of his dad, this seems to manifest itself more than usual.

Nick is a very determined little boy. If he could talk he would be the first to tell you he plans to skip crawling and go right to walking. To no avail I keep encouraging him that he should not be in such a hurry to grow up!

It's coming...

I want ya'll to know that when it comes to computers not only do I not have a whole lot of patience; I am extremely challenged. I know how to do the basics... shop, e-mail, and surf the web. But when I am forced to branch out to other things I get frazzled! So, setting up my blog is definitely making me "branch out". I do have to admit that I am learning a lot and am having a lot of fun. I'll get the hang of it and can't wait for my family and friends to enjoy.

Hiking in Flagstaff/Sedona...

Since it has been consistanly 108 in the Valley; we decided to beat the heat and head for the hills. Gary and I had bought Nicks backpack and have been itching to see if he would enjoy it or not. Well... Nick LOVES it!! He just sits up there and takes it all in. We can't even tell when he dozes off or not. Not a peep! The hike was just what we needed; even Dixie.
